    UfHI Gives Back to St. Kitts & Nevis after the Hurricanes

    In 2017, Hurricane Irma and Maria devastated the islands of St. Kitts and Nevis. The results were unavoidable but action was taken to reduce the amount of deaths in the area. The government of St. Kitts and Nevis’ reached out to us for assistance. Thankfully, we could partner with MedShare and we were able to provide medical supplies and equipment to the region. The supplies that we took included anesthesia kits, antiseptics, blood administration sets, bandages, biohazard waste bags, canes, beds, catheters, crutches, baby wipes, mattresses, diapers, dressings, gloves, wheelchairs, other critical supplies.

    As we near the end of the first decade of the 21st century, we can clearly see that while a host of medical triumphs have led to longer, healthier lives, there is certainly much work to be done. Illnesses like obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease seem to be unstoppable.  We are not prepared to face potential influenza pandemics, bioterrorism, or infectious diseases like Ebola which can be unexpected, incurable, and unusual in many aspects of their transmission.  The problems are compounded by a world seemingly smaller than ever where people from all cultures can quickly spread emerging viruses around the world in not months or days but just hours.  And addressing all of this is a health care landscape crowded with multiple organizations individually addressing the same challenge

    Uniting for Health Innovation Partners with Dr. Peggye Dilworth-Anderson, International Scholar and 2018 Pearmain Prize Awardee

    Atlanta, GA (December 21, 2017) – Uniting for Health Innovation is honored to announce the appointment of Peggye Dilworth-Anderson, PhD, Professor of Health Policy and Management in the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (UNC) as its Senior Scientist Consultant. In this role, Dr. Dilworth-Anderson will provide scientific and programming expertise consultation to the President and CEO, Jennie Ward-Robinson, PhD to develop evidence-based frameworks capable of addressing existing and emerging chronic health problems in the Americas. She will also provide guidance on other strategic areas including, integrating a dynamic systems approach in developing policies and programs on chronic disease care and management.

    Uniting for Health Innovation joins Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (UNC) in congratulating one of our partners, Peggye Dilworth-Anderson, PhD for being awarded the 2018 Pearmain Prize for Excellence in Research on Aging by the University of Southern California (USC) Roybal Institute on Aging. Dr. Dilworth-Anderson, professor of health and policy and management at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, is a long-standing partner of the Foundation, providing her expertise and advice in the design and realization of various Foundation initiatives.

    Dear Partners, Colleagues, and Friends,   The year 2017 was a turning point for Uniting for Health Innovation -- what an exciting journey! Recognizing the changing needs of the Americas, the Foundation signed Memorandums of Understandings (MoUs) with industry partners, health ministries, academic institutions, and NGOs. These strategic partnerships will allow the Foundation to continue creating long-term sustainable programming that bridges the gap between public and private stakeholders.
